What one sleeper considers the 'best mattress' for them won’t be the same for someone else. Your new mattress needs to align with your favourite firmness level, preferred sleeping position and sleep needs. To find your optimal mattress, take into account the following:

Firmness: Choose from soft, medium soft, medium firm, to extra firm. A comfy mattress that's too soft may not keep your spine aligned, while one that's too firm may cause pressure on the hips and shoulders.

Pressure Relief: Essential for side sleepers and those impacted by joint pain. Memory foam layers and pocket-sprung mattresses are designed to relieve pressure.

Temperature Regulation: This is important for keeping you cool and comfortable throughout the night.

Durability: How robust your mattress is affects how often you will need to replace it. Latex and high-quality memory foam are generally the most durable types.

Motion Isolation: Ensuring that one partner's movements don't disturb the other is key for couples to achieve a restful night's slumber. Pocket sprung and memory foam mattresses help to stop 'roll-together' - where two sleepers 'roll' into the centre of the bed during sleep due to poor motion isolation.

We recommend pocket-sprung mattresses if you suffer from back pain, as they provide pressure relief and better spinal alignment as you lie in bed. This is because they conform to your body shape, distributing weight evenly. However, you can experience more targeted relief with one of our orthopaedic mattresses, designed to alleviate joint discomfort and relieve pressure points.

Each mattress type may have a slightly different life span, but on average, it's recommended that you replace your mattress every 7-10 years to keep enjoying the perfect night's sleep. For your convenience, we provide a mattress removal service if you decide it's time to buy a new mattress. We'll take away and responsibly dispose of your old mattress for an additional fee of £50 when we deliver your next bed mattress. However, if you've ordered a new bed as well as your mattress, removing your old bed base will be included in the cost of this fee.

The mattress size you need has to be the same dimensions as your bed base and reflect your personal preference. Small single or single mattresses are suitable for young children's rooms and box rooms where there's little space. Small double or double mattresses are great for teenagers, small bedrooms, and guest rooms. King size and super king size mattresses are the largest we stock and are suited to those who share a bed or spacious master bedrooms where space isn't an issue.
